Clouds Floating in Water at Wawayanda State Park (Photo of the Day)

Wawayanda State Park

Visiting Wawayanda State Park–located in Sussex County, New Jersey–almost always makes me happy (except for when I spot a bear or two).

The hiking/mountain biking trails are great and offer something for everyone regardless of ability, and the park is simply gorgeous. There are wetlands, as seen in this photo, and a lovely lake that I’ve kayaked on a few times.

For me, it’s that combination of the blue sky and greenery that brings a smile to my face each time I go there. I especially love when the sky is cull of clouds, which are reflected in the water. I enjoy the park no matter what I do (though I do tend to ride my mountain bike).

I took this photo a few days ago, on a day with perfect weather. It was in the 80s, dry and well, just wonderful. A real gift in August in New Jersey, a month that often has humid, uncomfortable days.

About the Park

Wawayanda State Park offers a number of activities including swimming, camping, hiking and horseback riding. Entrance fees ranging from $5 for residents up to $20 for nonresidents (on weekends) are charged during the summer season. Click here to visit their site.
