Clay and Doritos? No, a Tejo game box, used in the traditional Colombian game (a national sport), which I played at Cali’s Club Social Los Amigos. Different, right? The game has specific rules, usually involves liquor and is a whole lot of fun. More information and the winner of this game found below.
The winner of this round followed the usually steps in order to guess what/where–which is how the Trippy Travel Photo Game is played.
1. Look at the photo/study the details
2. Guess what it is and where I was when I took the photo. Check out the clues.
Clue 1: I’m sure that a good number of tourists (not millions, but thousands and thousands) have seen this particular thing or, should I say, set-up, but I’m 99% sure they didn’t travel to this location for that purpose. They came for something totally different, I believe. Something involving their feet.
Clue 2: I’m glad I had the chance to see this; I ended up having fun at the location where I saw it (and at another location, too).
Note: To be declared the winner, you’ll need to provide a solid explanation re: why you believe your answer is correct.
3. Check Back Later!
–Post your guesses here in the Comments Section (tweets and FB comments don’t count–sorry)
–Keep checking and guessing as the guessing gets good…
–See who won…maybe it will be you!
The Prize?
A mention of your name and a link to your site from within this post.
And the Winner Is…
Robert Watson, one of two champion guessers.
The Answer: Tejo Game Board
Tejo is a traditional Colombian game in which players throw a puck (the tejo) at a board that’s on an angle and covered with clay and tortilla-shaped pieces of plastic containing explosives. Players aim the metal ring, the bocin–inside it and ideally, touching it with the tejo. Hitting a mecha, one of the explosive triangles, earns one some extra points.
PS: There’s even an app for this game now. Wonder how that works. ?

Whoa. No idea Lisa. Warm clay for tired feet from Columbia?

Ha ha–great guess. Funny!
You are right about the clay. What about those triangular-shaped thingees?
Albino Doritos around a rock
#winning! #ignoranceisbliss
Nice hashtags! Ha ha. Are those Doritos still there? I think someone with the munchies just ate them.
Forgot my explanation to win:
They look like Doritos surrounding a rock. It’s a gut feeling.
I’ll say it is a game. The triangles are the ‘target’ and the stone was thrown and landed neatly there.
You are SO smart, Robert! Where’s Jeruen????
OK, I’m back. I didn’t offer a location. So, if they are Doritos, those are corn chips, right? So that means Central or South America.

BTW, I am impressed that others are using hashtags in the responses

OK, you’re right. Somewhere in Central or South America. But you still don’t know what this is/these are.
#keeptrying
Oh yes I do Lisa… But I’m choosing to play you along for a bit *cough*
Let’s narrow it down. It’s not Central America, it is in South America.
#bettergetyournextphotoready
Guess what? Jeruen is in the game AND he narrowed it down to the correct country.
#Robertmaylosethisone
I am trying to put together the clay and South America – off the top of my head, I can only come up with Guyana and a hiking area.
Hi. Good guess! Someone just guessed the country. Check out the comments. You were sort of warm.
Is this from El Totumo outside of Cartagena?

Hi, Jeruen! Long time no chat! Your guess is hot–very hot!! You’ve got the right country!
OK, so it is Colombia. Jeruen has beaten me several times in recent games, so I had better just get in quickly this time…
#crackingknucklesinconfidencethistime
Are you ready?
This is the clay target for the game called tejo. That stone is tossed into the clay from a distance and embeds itself in the clay.
#nextTrippyphotopleaseLisa
Oh wow–looks like you won! Yes, it’s Tejo! #sorryJeruen
Yay! #happyaussie
Congratulations Robert! Hello from Myanmar!

Hey, Jeruen. I really thought you were going to win this time!
PS: I tried to leave a comment on your blog post re: Couch Surfing, but I had trouble. Did it go through? If not, could you check your settings? Thanks!
A tossing game with explosives? How is this not played in the U.S.?

Right? Maybe some bars should get some Tejo game boxes and set them up next to the darts.
