This photo is of Indonesian students’ images reflected on a whiteboard at a school in Sumatra. Tricky right? Well, someone came very close to guessing it. How? By following these steps.
1. Look at the Photo/Study the Details
2. Guess what/where!
What is it? Where was I traveling when I saw it? And if you end up guessing both rather quickly, you’ll need to be even more specific re: what it is you’re looking at.
3. Use the clue/s.
Clue 1: This is off the beaten path.
Clue 2: It’s sort of two images in one. Therein lies the challenge.
4. Check back later!
–Post your guesses here in the Comments Section (tweets and FB comments don’t count–sorry)
–Keep checking and guessing as the guessing gets good…
–See who won…maybe it will be you!
The prize?
A mention of your name and a link to your site from within this post.
And the winner is…
James Shaw of Kukoo Kunuku. He came the closest in this very difficult (maybe the most difficult) round of this game. The fact that his guess included “a glass reflection of a monastery of some sort” put him in the lead. No one else able to capitalize on those clues, so he’s the winner!
The answer:
This image is of a whiteboard on which was the reflection of female Indonesian students. Can you see their uniforms and headscarves? Where I was specifically was a village called Payakumbuh.
I was volunteer teaching there for a few weeks at a middle school. One day I caught glimpse of this pretty image and photographed it.
Wider Angle Shots of Same Photo
You may be wondering what this looked like from a distance, how I got the idea and what the students actually looked like when not reflected on the whiteboard.
Check out these photos and you’ll understand.

Wow! THIS is a tough one.
Lets see *drums fingers on desk*
Two images in one? Is it street art over graffiti?
As for where? hrmmm… Lettering in the background could be English or could be Spanish… can’t see enough of it to say for sure.
Am I “warm”?

Hi, Maria. Sorry it’s taken me forever to respond. You’re cold at the moment, but James Shaw (another player) is quite warm. Here are clues from his guess: ‘reflection’ and ‘religious.’
Good luck!
Tough clue, Lisa! Can only think a museum, a gallery perhaps?

Good guess, Charu. I can see why you might think the image is of a gallery. It is artistic in some way (in my mind). If you check James Shaw’s comment, you’ll see how warm he is and have a better idea of what this might be. To save you time, I’ll give you two clues: reflection and religious.
I kind of like this game but it’s a hard one though. Can’t think of anything…. let’s see…
I know at some point that its a glass, maybe a wind shield from a car…
maybe its a glass reflection of a monastery of some sort? Am I warm, or way off? haha
Hi, James. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!
I must say that you are warm in a sense. The reason? You used the word ‘reflection’ and there is definitely one in the image. The question is–of what? Also, mentioning a monastery is also warm as there is something religious in the image.
Does that help? I think you can win this!
PS: I checked out your website–I love it! I’m definitely a fan of colorful buses!
Hi, James. Would you believe you’re the official winner of my game? Yes, you are! You came the closest. It was quite difficult, no? Anyway, if you come visit the post again, you’ll see exactly what it was you were looking at!
Wow! Thank you so much! Honestly I wasn’t able to think of something during that time. I was glad I entered the game and will surely join upcoming games to come. Thanks again and have a great day!
You’re welcome! The next round will be easier–I promise!
