This particular pig’s photo was taken at a market in Cuenca. Here’s another photo of it (added after the game had been played)–not quite as close up. Now it’s probably more obvious what the photo at the beginning of the post is.

So…a couple guessers have come to the conclusion that it’s a roasted pig–and that’s true! But they have not identified the country. Can you, C Bus champion guesser-caption writer?

As with Anuj, I also think it is a pig. The white eye-lashes are very pig-like.

Hey, Nate. Glad you found the photo to be trippy–I certainly did when I took it. I thought–what the heck? Is it crying? Yikes. But then I noticed all of them looking like that.
Re: your guess. You are SO right. It’s a pig! But the country is wrong. Anuj, another player, also guessed that–and so, right now, it’s a tie between the two of you. Whichever one of you guesses the exact country first will win! Good luck!
I did offer up the region (Caribbean) which you didn’t react to, so I will steer away from that. South America – nah, they are more into chicken and fish.
I am going to stick my neck right out and say that a country where I *did* see a lot of pig was China. I mean, a WHOLE pig tied onto the back of a bicycle, cased in woven green leaf basket.

YAY!! ha ha, that’s exactly where we had it, on the top floor of the market now that I think about it! My boyfriend thought that place was heaven!

OMG…that is so funny! I must post the long shot of the pig now–perhaps in an hour or so. Perhaps you’ll recognize the entire scene. I only took one bit of the pig (not the one in the photo–a different one) and it was tasty. But I must admit I was a bit turned off seeing them the way they were. Most looked like they were crying.
