Trippy Travel Photo #1: Bike Baby Produce Cart

To Be Determined

Unidentified image on which players based their guess when the post first came out

Introducing a New Game!

When you travel off the beaten path, you never know what you’ll discover. Each moment is different and often “trippy” in some way.

Take this photo for example, which I took a few years ago on one of my many journeys abroad.

What the heck is it?

Where the heck was I when I shot it?

And what the heck was happening in that particular moment?

Any idea?

Post your guess in a few sentences–or maybe a clever caption–in the Comments section. In a couple days, I’ll tell you exactly where I was and what the heck it was that I actually photographed.

Whoever comes closest to guessing–or writes the best caption–wins!

What’s the prize?

Well, at this point, I can only thank you and post a link to your blog. Eventually, I may run a contest and offer an actual prize.

Until then, I’d  simply love to experiment with this new photo guessing game and would love your help with it. By the way,  if I keep this going, Trippy Travel Moments may focus on the following:

Trippy Travel Categories

Human/s…Beinga person or people in a one-time moment of one or more real emotions.

Off-Beat Odditiesdefinitely different, a little way out and maybe a bit far out (like the photo you see above)…may overlap with the next category on occasion.

Surreal Seconds…a bit dreamy and disorienting and slightly unbelievable snapshot in time (eg, patterns or illusions in nature)

Where Was It?

(Note: This info was posted after the players guessed in the Comments section below.)

I shot this photo a few years ago on my way back from Isla Ometepe, Nicaragua. It was taken while I was waiting for the ferry.

What Is It?

I believe it was a special yet sort of makeshift cart, which was created by someone who wanted to transport items they were selling.

I think that the owner did possibly weld bicycle handle bars on to the contraption so it would be easier to push/pull. I don’t recall if there were pedals.

Interesting how the color it was painted matched the paint used at the ferry stop.

As for the baby doll….I’m unable to explain it. Perhaps the person once enjoyed dolls or missed their child.

Hard to say. In any case, it was a slightly cute definitely odd one. :)

And the Winner Is…

Steve of Do Something Cool! Because he identified the country, Nicaragua.

The other players, Sabina and and Aaron, tied for 2nd place due to the details they spotted. And Emma gets an honorable mention.

Thanks to everyone for playing! Hopefully, I’ll post another one next week–perhaps in the “Surreal” category.

It looks like it was at one point a bike that was maybe then welded to a fence? And that doll is creepy…

Given the paint job on the wall, I’d say this could be in any third world country…

And I have no idea what’s going on…

Very interesting….an excellent guess!! I think you’re warm…and so far, you’re winning! LOL

I can’t tell you what part of your guess was right…yet. I don’t want others to be tipped off. :) But I will say that I totally agree with you re: the doll. Really creepy!

      Thanks for playing!!

Great guess! But….you’re slightly cool and a little warm. It’s definitely Latin America, but not the back of a bus…

It appears to be a doll head someone stuck in a bicycle I would say…in Costa Rica (I know it’s not Syria :) ). What was happening? Someone was probably very drunk haha

Hi, Sabina. Excellent guess. You definitely have an eye for details! And this skills of yours has just put you in 1st place! One reason is…the country you chose. It borders on the one where I took the photo! Another reason is your idea re: what it might be…

Answer to be revealed later today….

This photo reminds me of something I read about. In Mexico there is La Isla de la Munecas which is an island filled with creepy doll heads. But you said it bordered Costa Rica…hmm, I’ll say Nicaragua then since the blue reminds me of some of the colors I saw on buildings when I was there.

Steve–you are now in first place. You’ve got the right country…yes–Nicaragua!! But the other players are right behind you due to some details they noticed.

That “isla” sounds scary to me. I find dolls’ heads/eyes weird anyway and when they’re really creepy, I almost can’t look. I will admit, though, that I’m intrigued and would consider visiting that island in Mexico. Imagine the photo opps!

Thanks for playing! The exact location/explanation will be given later–and the winner will be announced! :)

    And the winner is….

Steve of Do Something Cool! Because he identified the country, Nicaragua.

This was a tough decision, though, since the other players, Sabina and and Aaron, spotted certain details re: what the subject of the photo was. They tied for 2nd place.

And Emma gets an honorable mention…for her bus-related guess.

Thanks to everyone for playing! Hopefully, I’ll post another one next week–perhaps in the “Surreal” category.

Steve is an expert photo location guesser….I think! And the other players were pretty amazing, too. I think it was the blue paint that gave it away! :)

      New pic–Surreal Something–next week!
